Lecture for Al Rayyan Players on Football Law Updates

As part of the Qatar Football Association’s Referees Committee efforts to enhance awareness of the game’s laws, international referee Meshari Ali Al-Shammari delivered an educational lecture to Al Rayyan Club players and technical staff. The lecture covered the latest updates to football laws issued by the International Football Association (FIFA), aimed at ensuring uniform application of the rules and promoting fairness on the pitch.

The lecture focused on the details of the new rule amendments, particularly updates concerning goalkeepers, including the time limit for goalkeepers holding the ball, as well as decisions related to offside, penalty kicks, and the use of Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology. It also clarified the roles of assistant referees and the fourth official. The session included interactive discussions with the players to deepen their understanding of the changes and their impact on the team’s performance during matches.

Such lectures contribute to raising awareness among players and technical staff, fostering discipline on the field and improving understanding of referees’ decisions. This lecture is part of a series of training programs organized by the QFA’s Referees Committee to support local clubs and advance football development in Qatar.
