Al Rayyan kicked off their AFC Champions League Two campaign with a thrilling and deserved 4-3 victory over visiting Al Faisaly of Jordan in a high-octane clash held tonight at the World Cup venue, Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, in front of a large crowd.
“The Fierce” delivered a powerful attacking display, establishing full control over the tempo of the match, especially during a highly efficient first half in front of goal.

Al Rayyan started with intent, exerting early pressure that yielded the opening goal through defender David García in the 6th minute following an assist from Otávio da Silva. The team maintained their momentum as star player Roger Guedes doubled the lead in the 22nd minute. Before the close of the first half, Ahmed Alaaeldin added Al Rayyan’s third in the 41st minute off another assist from Otávio da Silva. Al Faisaly then pulled one back through Saibou Sylla in the 45+1 minute, sending the teams into the break with Al Rayyan leading 3-1.
In the second half, Al Rayyan extended their margin when substitute Hazem Shehata scored the fourth goal in the 73rd minute following a brilliant setup by Ahmed Al-Ganehi. Despite Al Faisaly’s comeback attempt—scoring two rapid goals through Mohammad Al-Haddad in the 78th minute and Ahmed Ersan in the 84th minute—Al Rayyan’s defense held firm until the final whistle, securing a valuable first three points in their continental journey.
