Poya Asbaghi, the coach of Al Rayyan, expressed his delight at being at Al Rayyan and taking on a new challenge in the Stars League. During the press conference held on the sidelines of Al Rayyan’s match against Umm Salal in the opening match of the league, he said: “We’ve had a good preparation for the season, playing numerous friendly matches. So, it will be a special occasion to meet our fans in our first match, and we’ll be happy about that. We’ve watched Umm Salal last season; they made it difficult for any opponent. They’re a good team defensively and dangerous on the counterattack, so it will be a tough start for us. However, we’ve prepared well for the season and feel ready for this challenge.”
He added: “Coaching Al Rayyan is an exciting challenge. Al Rayyan is the biggest team in Qatar, and I believe Al Rayyan’s goal is to develop further. This season, we have to compete for titles. I’m happy to be here, and the team needs hard work and constant development. The important thing for us is to always be better. If we do that, we can achieve our goals.”
Asbagh indicated that the team’s squad is almost complete, and that Al Rayyan has a good list of players before facing Umm Salal.
