Portuguese coach Artur Jorge of Al-Rayyan stressed the importance of the upcoming clash against Saudi side Al-Shabab in the Gulf Champions League, saying during the pre-match press conference:
“The game against Al-Shabab is special and crucial for us. We must give our very best and secure the win. We know we face a tough opponent, and victory would put us top of the group. The players are fully aware of that and will give everything to make it happen.”
He added:
The team needs a reaction after the Al-Sadd game. Everyone—coach and players—is highly focused. We need this win to make up for our last performance. We carry the same hunger and concentration.”
He continued:
“The Gulf Champions League is a chance to face different teams. Al-Shabab is one of them. I don’t trust their current one-point tally—it doesn’t reflect their true level. They are much better than that. My message to the players is clear: in football, no match is easy. We must bring our A-game, stay fully focused, and respect the opponent. If we impose our identity and play to our real standard, we will win. We have fantastic players and a great team capable of delivering a big performance and clinching victories.”
