Al Rayyan Volleyball Team Qualifies for Asian Champions League Final and Secures Spot in Club World Championship

 

Al Rayyan’s volleyball team achieved a historic milestone by advancing to the final of the inaugural Asian Volleyball Champions League, following a thrilling 3-2 victory over Japan’s Suntory Sunbirds in the semi-final match held on Saturday in Tokyo, Japan.

The match was fiercely competitive, with both teams exchanging dominance. Al Rayyan clinched the first set 25-22, but Suntory responded by winning the second set 25-22. Al Rayyan regained the lead in the third set, winning 25-23, only for Suntory to level the score by taking the fourth set 25-23. In the decisive fifth set, Al Rayyan showcased remarkable fighting spirit, sealing the match with a 17-15 scoreline.

This victory secured Al Rayyan’s place in the tournament final and earned them direct qualification for the 2025 Club World Championship, set to take place in Brazil in December 2025, further cementing the team’s illustrious record in continental competitions. Al Rayyan now awaits the winner of the semi-final between Iran’s Foolad and Japan’s Osaka in the final, scheduled for Sunday at 10:00 AM Tokyo time.
