Al-Rayyan Loses to Al-Sadd in Qatar Clasico

Al-Rayyan suffered a 1-5 defeat against Al-Sadd in the Qatar Clasico, during their match in the ninth round of the Doha Bank Stars League. The game, held at Jassim bin Hamad Stadium of Al-Sadd Club, witnessed two red cards, leaving Al-Rayyan to play with nine players.

Al-Sadd took the lead with a goal in the 11th minute by Firmino. Al-Rayyan’s player Gorigori was sent off in the 19th minute, after which Roger Guedes equalized from a penalty in the 37th minute. In the 10th minute of added time in the first half, Khoukhi Boualem scored Al-Sadd’s second goal. Akram Afif added the third in the 52nd minute, followed by Firmino’s fourth in the 55th minute. In the 74th minute, Rafa Mujica scored the fifth from a penalty. Abdulaziz Hatem received a second yellow card and was sent off in the first minute of added time in the second half.

With this result, Al-Rayyan’s points tally stopped at 13, maintaining fourth place in the standings, while Al-Sadd’s points rose to 11, advancing them to sixth place.

Al-Rayyan played with the lineup: Mahmoud Abondi in goal; Murad Naji, Andre Amaro, Mohamed Saleh, and Ahmed Al-Menhali in defense; Gorigori, Thiago Silva, and Wesley in midfield; and Roger Guedes, Rodrigo Moreno, and Ahmed Alaa in attack.
