Al Rayyan Eliminated from Amir Cup Quarter-finals

 

Al Rayyan was eliminated from the Amir Cup quarter-finals after losing to Qatar SC on penalties 4-5, following a 4-4 draw in regular and extra time during the match that brought the two teams together this evening at Jassim Bin Hamad Stadium at Al Sadd Club.

Qatar SC took the lead in the 15th minute through Ibrahim Majid, before Johan Boli added Qatar SC’s second goal in the 38th minute. In the 45th minute, Roger Guedes scored the first goal for Al Rayyan after a shot by Gabriel Pereira was saved and followed up by Roger into the net. In the 66th minute, Rodrigo Moreno equalized for Al Rayyan after a wonderful cross from Gabriel Pereira, before Tabata regained the lead for Al Gharafa in the 90+5th minute. In the 90+12th minute, substitute Sofiane Boufal scored the equalizer from a powerful shot from outside the penalty area. In the 105th minute, Ashraf Ben Sharqi put Qatar SC ahead after a pass from Boufal, before Bruno Tabata equalized for Qatar SC in the 117th minute. The match went to penalties, with Qatar SC winning 5-4.
