Al Rayyan team finished second in the General Basketball League championship after losing the first two matches in the best-of-three final series. Al Arabi was crowned the league champion at the expense of Al Rayyan.
Al Arabi won the first match with a score of 81-72 before securing their victory in the second match, which was held at Al Gharafa Club Hall, with a score of 92-86.
Al Rayyan had topped the league standings, which follows a playoff system for the top four teams. They faced Al Ahli in the semi-finals, winning both matches and qualifying to meet Al Arabi in the championship final.
