Vicente Moreno: “We seek victory to make our fans happy”

Vicente Moreno, head coach of Al Rayyan, emphasized the importance of the upcoming match against Oman’s Al-Nahda at Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, as part of Round 4 of the AFC Champions League Two. Speaking at the pre-match press conference, he said: “Tomorrow’s match is extremely important for us—firstly, because we are playing at home in front of our fans, making a victory crucial. We know the match will be very tough. It is true that we beat them in our last game, but I really like this team; they are a good side, and I am certain tomorrow’s match will be very difficult for us.”

He added: “We played against them about a week ago and won, but I admire this team, and I am sure tomorrow’s game will be very challenging. I have full confidence in my players and know we will give our absolute best to win tomorrow. It is true that after this match we will face Al Sadd, and we might make a few changes tomorrow because while our immediate focus is on this match, maintaining focus on the following one is also important.”

Regarding the draw in their previous match against Al Arabi and whether the result was satisfactory, he noted: “I think we played a very serious match against Al Arabi, who are also a very good side. It was a tough game, and in the end, I believe we could have scored a few goals. However, players are human, and sometimes it’s impossible to win every single time. But we remain calm and are focusing on the next match; if we play with the same approach, I am confident we will win many games.”

On his ambitions and goals with Al Rayyan, Moreno stated: “I think it’s very simple… very simple, yet very difficult at the same time. Al Rayyan is a big club, and when you are at a big club, your goal must be to win every tournament you compete in. That is our mindset—we want to win everything. It is extremely difficult, but we will try to win and compete in every possible competition.”
